Name says at all!!

Ok..I'm in the process of buying 1st road bike! I've been riding a Trek mountain bike for 5 years now only onroad and getting a great workout but it's time time to upgrade to a road bike! I average 18-23 miles per ride and mostly done on rail trails. I'm looking at the Trek 2.1 or 2.3, so I guess my question is to anyone riding this brand is it a good starting point for a newbie road rider? Thanks for any input!! Joe

The Trek 2.3 is a nice bike with a little better components that the 2.1 and would make a great starter bike. I would suggest going to the LBS (Local Bike Shop) and see what fits you best before selecting a brand. I myself like the fit of the older Trek bikes over the new ones. I also prefer Trek over Specialized, it's a personal thing.
