So what's the deal the the Livestrong bands?

I know they've been sold out for awhile now but when are they going to have any available? I'm kicking myself for not getting into the sport earlier so I could've purchased one :D I've noticed them on ebay but they're pretty expensive on there.

You can get them from www.livestrong.org
for $1.00 each but you gotta buy in lots of 10.
Don't buy from e-bay its a rip and the proceeds probably don't
go to LAF.

Wife just placed an order for 40 + $10 s/h.....they charged the card, but its a four week wait until delivery.

They (LAF) figured they would sell a million, they sold 5 and have ordered production of 5 million more.

Yes, but you get immediate gratification from doing something you can be proud of when you make your $10 (or $10+) donation to the LAF. No, no one will be able to see that you supported THE LAF's work for Cancer Survivors, but inside you'll know that you've made a difference. The wrist bands will eventually show up and then you can feel good all over again as you help raise awareness when people ask you why you're wearing that yellow band. Of course, you can also become a Friend of the Lance Armstrong Foundation with a much larger cash contribution but no one will know about that except you, the accountants at the LAF, your tax attorney, and the IRS.

Actually, I think I heard Lance say that they've sold something like 12 million when he was on the Leno show...

On the site they say:

"Wear Yellow. Live Strong.
Lance knows that yellow is more than just the color of the leader’s jersey in the Tour de France. It's a symbol of hope, courage and perseverance—whether you're on the bike or in the oncology ward.

As a tribute to Lance’s inspirational fight against cancer, yellow wristbands engraved with his mantra, Live Strong, will be sold in an effort to raise $5,000,000 for the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF)."

I have seen on another site that they have sold over 11 million as of mid Aug.

Cheers

they had to buy the band at first though, so at least a dollar per wristband went to LAF.

Yes a dollar went to LAF but I feel anyone that buys it off of ebay is, not only foolish, but doing it as a fashion statement or collecting them. In my family this yellow band has a special meaning for us and between my siblings and I we have ordered 60 of them to hand out to family and friends yes it took 3 weeks to get them but it isn't that long and then it has much more meaning to us than to line the pocket of an opportunist.

If you think these will become a collectors item, think again there are way to many in circulation for that. They will continue to make them as long as there is a demand for them.

I bought 100 of them during the first week of TDF. I passed them out to a few of my cycling freinds and passed them out to all my co workers. I work in a hugely popular downtown Chicago restaurant and during July just about all the employees were wering yellow! I heard that Lance told Jay Leno that he was going to produce five million more beacause of the popular demand? :)

"YELLOW WAKES ME UP IN THE MORNING.
YELLOW GETS ME ON THE BIKE EVERY DAY.
YELLOW HAS TAUGHT ME THE TRUE MEANING OF SACRIFICE.
YELLOW MAKES ME SUFFER.
YELLOW IS THE REASON I'M HERE."
