Thule Roof Racks--Any way to change width?

We have an old Thule roof mounted rack for bikes, and previously used it on a minivan (what kind I don't remember). We've since gotten rid of that vehicle, and I want to mount it to my Volkswagen Jetta, but the mounts are too far apart to attach to my Jetta's roof.

so my question is this: Does anyone here have experience with these racks, and know if the mounts can be moved closer together to accommodate a smaller roof? Or would a whole new mounting set need to be purchased for my particular car?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Dave

IIRC the last time I mounted a set of thules the set screw that tightens the grabbing mechanism to the side of the roof also locks the bar to the mount, so it seems like you should be able to adjust the width.
