Online Shopping

I was just wondering about other peoples shopping experiences online. Mainly concerned with one company I found that has some amazing deals but they are located overseas and their paypal account doesn't seem to work. I figured that out because before I decided to put any money through the internet I did a dry run and their paypal didn't work. So it definitely raises questions for me but they have offers that are too good to be true so they probably aren't true. Here is the website https://www.crafts-road.com/ let me know if you find anything out about it. I emailed their company to see if I could get any answers so I will keep you updated.

Thanks,
Casey

Since 99% of my online shopping is for bike parts, I can't tell you anything about that site; but all of the online retailers I've dealt with have been honest. (The worst has been eBay, and that wasn't bad.... BikesDirect.com is a low-ball retailer, no follow-up support, and their "manufacturers" are unreliable, too -- but a lot of people over the last year or so have posted positive experiences with them.........)

I have shopped quite a bit online as well, just this retailer seemed a bit fishy but their deals are really good so I was wondering if anyone dealt with them and how it turned out. I use craigslist a lot and e-bay a lot and know how it is to deal with online shopping. Just I am looking to spend a decent amount of money on a new Triathlon bike and this site has a banging deal but it's just fishy so it scares me. Do not want to lose out on my money so doing a bit of research.

Check out the Positive Experiences With Cycling Related Businesses sticky thread at the top of this forum and see if the company in question is mentioned there ...

Deals too good to be true + non-working paypal would be enough for me to stay far far away.

What are you wanting to buy? Perhaps someone here can recommend a more reputable site with good deals.

I have bought bikes and parts from reputable sellers on eBay, and from Amazon, and have had nothing but good experiences. Amazon has excellent customer service!

I have also bought parts/acessories from Performance, Nashbar, and alot of stuff from JensonUSA. Always got my stuff on-time, and undamaged. JensonUSA has some killer deals!

I remember a similar deal coming up a while back, and it did look like a scam. May be the same company, I don't know. And the website in that case seemed to be well done, but was mainly copied from another website.

Suggestion: They list a bunch of brands carried. Go to the websites of those brands, and see if they list this company as a dealer for them. That was one tip-off for the other outfit.

I am looking for a Felt B2 triathlon bicycle and haven't 100% decided which model and what not but this site has some killer deals that are definitely like 50% or more off. So if someone knows of a site like this that is more reputable that would be great.

I got an email from the company in question and they said that they would give me the shipping number before I have to pay them. It honestly all seems a bit fishy and I am not ready to buy just this second just shopping around for the best place to purchase my future triathlon bicycle. They have models from 2010, 2009, 2008 which is part of the reason the price is so good but I still do not trust the site 100%. Doesn't look like anyone on here yet has ever dealt with them either that I could see. I will still investigate further and see what I can find out. Keep you posted.

Personally, that letter does not give me the confidence to trust the bike would be assembled properly in the first place. Go with your instincts. If its sounds to good to be true, pass.
Only buy from reputable retailers. Another thing to be aware of these days is, counterfeit merchandise. "I got a Trick instead of a Trek"

I guess I could get a box of rocks, thanks for the input. I really didn't think about that. I was trying to see an angle where they could get one by me and that is definitely a way they could do it. I probably will just have to settle for a more expensive option I suppose.
