    Wearing all Livestrong Gear

Hey guys. I'm thinking about getting a Livestrong jersey and shorts (found a set for $40 on eBay). I already have a Livestrong helmet and sunglasses, so the jersey and shorts would kind of complete it all.

I'm just wondering if this is too much? I know that wearing the wristband and such gets the Livestrong message across, but is getting all decked out in Livestrong gear too flashy? I really love the look and colors of the Livestrong line, plus my mother is a breast cancer survivor, but I just don't want to "overdo" it.

    Thoughts?

Considering you're buying eBay knockoff stuff where not a penny is going to Livestrong, just how is it you're supporting them?

I wish I could buy a Stephen Colbert WristStrong jersey. As a dual wrist fracture survivor (true story!), that would mean a lot.

Is there a way you can tell if it's authentic or not? I know with the wristbands the packaging is different, but wasn't sure about other Livestrong stuff.

Ignore what everyone else thinks. If you like it then wear it.

If you are concerned it is a Knock off and no money is going to the charity with the purchase, then just take an extra $20 out and send that directly to the charity.

Skip the middlemen and sleep with Lance Armstrong's relatives to get the full effect. My 2c.
I see unexamined people. All the time. I don't think they know they're unexamined.

I say wear it. Be a man about it, wear what you want.
If someone gives you crap or called you Lance just do this:

Look them solemnly in the eye. Avert your eyes down a little bit, pause, take a deep breath and say "My mother had to go through breast cancer, so I just wanted to show my support for her and the other millions going through that terrible disease."

    Then walk away.

I think you should wear what YOU feel comfortable in. If you like the colors, the message and the look .. then wear it. If you are on the fence about it, then don't do it.

Did you buy it from an authorized Livestrong/Nike dealer?

If you bought it for $40 on ebay and it is brand new...seriously, do you really believe that it is authentic and that the Livestrong foundation will ever see proceeds from that sale? Did it come from a vendor in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan?

It doesn't really matter what you wear as long as you like it. But if you actually wear due to a belief and show of support, ensure that the money you spent actually go to the right people. If not, you are lining the pockets of somebody else.

I figure that buying Fat Cyclist gear sends about the same amount of money toward cancer research and is, in my case, far more accurate.

Well, it sounds as though you answered your own question. If you like the colors, do it.

http://fatcyclist.com generally has the info and links, but the gear is actually made and sold by Twin Six (http://twinsix.com).

However, it's a once-a-year-preorder, with only a very limited amount of extra stock made available later on. And the preorder period for this year ended about two weeks ago.

edited to add: read the fatcyclist.com blog--it's funny.

I have quite a few Livestrong things, but mainly because they're always on the clearance rack at Dick's. It doesn't make much difference to me either way, but as some folks have said, buy from an authorized shop so Livestrong gets your $$ at least.
