Avenue B or Wellington 1.0?

Hey guys, I posted a thread in the road bike section but didn't get many responses. Anyways, I'm hoping to buy a newish road bike in the next few weeks, and was wondering which would be a better starter bike?

I'd like to keep a Road bike, and would be starting out with 1.5-2.0 mile commutes to class. When it got cooler, I'd love to start taking it to stores and other places. I live in a completely flat city(West Texas) and would appreciate any help.

The Wellington can be had for $299:

The Gravity also looks like a good starter bike for $279 shipped:

There are a few reviews online which were positive for both, and I couldn't find any that were negative.

Could y'all recommend either of the bikes I listed or another bike at a max of $350 shipped. The local bike shops are way too expensive(starting at $600) and craigslist literally has nothing worthwhile for sale.

The Gravity's shifters are in a lower spot vs that of the Wellington.. If you are new to road bikes and riding in traffic etc, then I would certainly pic the Wellington. You may want to check out the single speed bikes on their website. They have a lot of them around your price range.

Cool, thanks for the reply. What are some things I should look for when choosing a road bike?

I also found the Vilano TUONO(link) and it looks like a decent bike for the money as well.
