Ride with Achilles "boot"?

I strained one Achilles tendon somehow, and was just fitted with an aluminum and velcro "boot" on one leg. I have to wear it for ten days. Walking is achievable but awkward, and I normally walk several miles to work. Obviously I can't do that with "the boot."

Probably a truly dumb question... but has anyone bicycled with one of these things on? I have an old Raleigh with toe clips; obviously I'd take them off for this purpose.

Take off the boot and ride with toe clips? I wouldn't even consider it, but this is a medical question. Ask a medical person.

He intends to ride with the boot on and the toe clips removed from the bike

+1 for this being a medical issue. Did your doctor say anything one way or another about riding?

AS a former Nurse trainee. I wouldn't risk it.. It's just a week and three days. Sweat it out and wait for when your doc tells you it's okay.

OK; thanks for the advice. I'm hobbling around tolerably well and the thing is scheduled to come off in just a few days.

I DID ride the old Super Course (sans toe clips) about 2 flat miles to a convenience store, and had no problems whatsoever. But my ride to work is pretty hilly and I was afraid to try that.
