I'm not related nor know this person but maybe you have seen him? Pass it on if you feel so inclined.

Great news Willy is in Montana today. He was out of cell coverage for day. Used a land line to call.

Good news, I'm sure. But is it just old people like me who think the world is a poorer place now that a cycle tourist being out of touch for a few days is a cause for panic? Jesus.

Technology makes us much more connected nowadays, and I'm sure it's more for his loved ones than him.

I think it's a matter of what you're used to. If the guy was calling in every day and then goes silent for 5 days, that's cause for alarm, and wouldn't really matter if he had been sending telegraphs or using a satellite phone. If he only checked in sporadically anyway, I'm sure it wouldn't have bothered anyone for him to go quiet for 5 days. Anyway, good to know he hasn't disappeared.

First, let me say Im very glad he is safe.

Second, I agree with you. One day seems very hasty to pass the fliers. I could see two weeks.

Third, I wonder if he feels like the kid who's mom walks into his class to give him a sweater then kisses him and says I love you. The online cycling community is obviously the class.

Once again, Im glad there was a happy ending to this story.

Being smothered like that, do you suppose the guy WANTS to go missing? Like, disappear and have a life of his own???

"Mom, don't worry. I met this really nice lady from Fargo, eh. And she... Well, Mom, you wouldn't believe what they do in Fargo to pass the time..."
