I was thinking of a small backpack to keep spare tube, pump, energybar. etc. What do you guys/gals use to carry necessities?

i take my chances, just carry my wallet & cell phone in a saddle bag. If something were to happen, I just call my wife to come get me.

My brother has a camelback with storage pockets in it, he carries all sorts of stuff... tube, multi-tool, keys, food, phone, wallet...

I carry a spare tube and tools in an under-seat bag all the time. If I need to carry a cell phone or camera, I'll use a small fanny pack. For larger loads, like a change of clothes or shoes, I'll use a Camelbak.

Flat and chain repair items, multitool, etc, go in a seat bag. Anything else (which isnt much) goes in a lightweight backpack.

Camelbacks sound like what I'm looking for. I have two but they are bladders only, no pockets.....Yes, I've had them for a long time.

I just use a saddle bag, jersey pockets or strap it to the bike. I've seen people use small fanny packs or those belts runners use to carry water.

Seat bag. Sometimes a second seat bag attached elsewhere on the frame, if I have something extra to tote. I don't like carrying anything on my back.

I usually ride with a Salomon XA 20 backpack. It holds anything I need, plus some extras if I'm going to the pool or whatever. It also has a spot you could put a CamelBack bladder in. I use it for darn near everything. Even, I admit, as a "man-purse" sometimes. My wife has a Salomon XT Wings 10. It's a little smaller, but is definitely more stable with a sort vest closure system so its super secure. I might get one too...

I bought a small backpack thinking I would travel light but I still put too much junk in it.

Of late I've been using a fanny pack for essentials (like money, keys and a cell phone). I use a seat post bag for bike essentials. I take the seat post bag with me when I lock up my bike.

I put stuff in a tote bag and carry it in my handlebar bike basket. If it's an errand day, then I put one or both shopping panniers on the rear rack. If it's an all day ride, then a camelbak type backpack and the tote bag.

I occasionally use a camelbak. Normally I carry everything in a saddle bag or trunk bag.

Yup, I have an older FOX w/bladder. Never used the bladder, nice size and fit and less sweating.

It's smaller than my older pack, so I tend not to fill it up with junk... just the necessities.

i always have my backpack with me. i use to carry basic tools to repair the most common problems i run into. i also use it for shopping. it can hold 5 2liter bottles of juice plus my tools.

Get a Camelback Mule. Performance has last year's model on sale for about $50.
Up to 90 ounces of liquid plus a variety of pockets. I love mine.
