Jersey? What exit?

I lugged my camera along on my usual Sunday morning ride today. Taking pictures slowed me down, but I wanted to snap a few before all the leaves disappear. Here's a sampling:

A quaint little road near the start of the ride. It wasn't overcast for long.

Riding through the swamp. That mucky roadside ditch was the location of my first (and so far only) unclipping accident a few months ago. I unclipped my roadside cleat, then fell to the other side, right into six inches of swamp sludge. In front of my riding group, of course. "Look guys, it's the Swamp Thing!"

Lake Road, appropriately named. The only things keeping this road from being rated "perfect" are the occasional cars that zip past, just barely weaving around cyclists and joggers. Then again, it's Jersey, so that's par for the course no matter what road you're on.

From the lake to a creek.

And from the creek to the farms and fields. Mmm, curvy.

I'm only posting this one so I don't get criticized for not climbing. Once you're out of the swamp, it gets pretty hilly. Those are individual houses in the background.

Yes, houses. This county is ranked as one of the richest in the nation, and with humble abodes like these scattered all over the place, it shows. Typically they're built far from the road, behind long gated driveways, but I got a clear shot of this one. And no, I'm not a member -- I can barely afford half of a 2-BR apartment here because the cost of living is so high.

Rest stop.

Nice report! I wish more members here post pics of their favorite rides. Before that, I should post something.
