Mandatory breaks from bikes are tough...

What activities do you like to do when you aren't allowed to ride?

For years I've lived on bikes, BMX around the neighborhood, cruiser for evening booze cruise, mountain and road for exercise and fun. It's one of those things that you don't realized how much a part of your lifestyle it is until you cant do it.

Due to a recent injury, I'm out for only a week or two, but I'm dying without being able to ride. I drive to work and eye the bike lane and wish I wasn't stuck in my car.

I find that filling the void with video games isn't working really...

You've got 473 miles for the year, and a week or two off the bike is causing withdrawal symptoms? Be glad you don't live in the Great North. My mileage is pitiful outside of the May-September 'bad sledding' season.

Because there is no way that little trackie could have been started recently, or I'd forgotten to update it a lot. Sheesh. I do about 3,500 miles a year combined between commuting/road/mtb.

About the best exercise I ever found was walking up hills/mountains, and that coincidentally works some of the same muscles as bicycling.

Walk if you can do that without aggravating the injury. As StephenH mentioned it helps if you walk up hills/mountains. We have dogs that keep us walking a lot even when I'm also bicycling a lot. I really appreciate the walks on days I don't ride. Even just a half hour helps, but an hour or so is even better.
