Wait a minute...
Are you saying that with your 2.5 reading glasses you can't get close enough to the screen to read it while on the bike? And, I'm guessing, not far enough away either? Welcome to tri-focals. Try a 1.5 reading lens for on the bike. This puts the sweet spot a bit further out. That's what I have to do for my computer glasses. I can't sit far enough back for the tops, or close enough for the bottoms. I need something in between--tri-focals. In my case it's a .75 difference
Once you figure out what you need, get it in bi-focal sunglasses.
Better yet, take the eye-to-subject distances you need (measure, don't guess) and see an eye doc to get a good prescription. With advancing age, there's more to a good eye exam than simply getting things in focus.
