Alfine-11 - initial rider comments?

Alfine-11 - initial rider comments?
If anyone here has a bit of experience yet with the new Alfine-11 IGH, I'd appreciate hearing their thoughts, good or bad. I'm maybe two to three months away from finalizing component selection for the Renovo frame I have on order, and I'm leaning toward an IGH. Before the '11' was released, the only option that seemed to suit was a Rolhoff, but if the new Alfine is looking good, the nicer price point makes a difference.

I've been running the Alfine IGH for about a month now as my daily commuter and it's been ideal for my riding habits. The ratio's are perfect for my ride and I d'ont have to worry about a front and rear derailleur not shifting or freezing in the winter. Slush and salt are kept away from the gears and even in the coldest weather it still shifts (a bit slower of course, but it still shifts)!!!
The only problem I have found so far is the back end of the bike is a LOT heavier which takes getting used to, but other than that its been nearly perfect!

I really would like to put an IGH on my new build... either the Alfine-11 or a Rohloff. The only reason for hesitation on my part is the whole drop bar shifter issue. The aftermarket solutions seem a bit clunky to me. Right now I'm leaning toward an added little bar extension for the shifter; I've got one that I used at one point to give me some additional gadget mounting space on the bars of my old hybrid.

I run Trekking bars with my Rohloff Hub Bike. works great.
I have a stacked stem setup for my handle bar bag mount on the lower one
easy to fit the shifter on the tube clamped in the lower stem,
just need a 7/8" OD tube
a Kalloy straight seatpost can be cut up.. a 26mm or 1" one
will be stepped down for the shifter.
SJS.co.uk has a welded T piece that does the trick,
a threadless steerer clamp and 7/8" tube aluminum T

That trekking bar solution actually dawned on me as a possibility over the weekend, and I did a very brief web search looking for user reports. I'll run the idea by the Renovo folks as we talk over component selection during the next few weeks. I placed my frame deposit with them around Thanksgiving, and it'll be several months yet until the build is complete and I'm riding.

Wouldn't it be funny if 11sp Campy shifters worked with the Alfine hub...
