you can get decent deals at the end of the season........sure its normal.........ive never heard of the cash thing.........to get a good deal on a bike, get to be good friends with the owner, and the people that work there.

Many bike shops also have sales in the spring (That's now :) ).

The best way to get "deals" either now or in the future is to patronize your LBS. When they see you a lot and get to know you they will often give you good prices on clothing, accessories, etc.

I havn't gotten a good deal on a bike but I have done REAL well on used parts, I'm on good terms with three LBS in three diffrent towns.

You should. Cash is a BIG advantage for bike shops. For one thing, it saves them the surcharge on the credit card transaction, for another, it gives them instant cash-on-hand, rather than having to wait for the two-day float from credit card transactions. Considering how close to the bone many LBSs operate, that can have a major impact on cash flow.

I agree, the end of the winter, beginn spring is the best time to score some good deals in the shops!

I bought my bike in November and I think it was a good deal. It's a 2001 but no difference other than stickers.
