Hi everyone. I just purchased a pair of Louis Garneau Durango clipless shoes. I am planning on getting a new bike and will use clipless for the first time. The lady at the LBS said the bottom plate comes off of the shoe to enable it to clip onto the pedal. Do I simply undo the Allen bolts to take the plate off, then put them back on? I was assuming that the plastic cover popped right off(Know what happens when you assume:lol:)
Undo the allen screws and remove the "bottom plate" and toss it or put it in a drawer. Then mount the cleat in that empty space.
Egg Beater cleats
The cleats will come with the pedals. What pedals are you getting?
I'm not sure what pedals I'm going to get. The LBS showed me some that they have and they said they are probably their most popular. I should have got the name of them. They were 90 bucks I think.
double sided with a platform on one side and a Clipless mech on the other,
Shimano has 2 sorts of these , Welgo has a shimano-like knock off.
I have a set of the forte campus pedal, same style as the ones mentioned. I like the standard spd's more, because the I normally ride with SPD shoes and it is easier to get in if both sides are the same. campus pedal is also a little harder to find the clipping point than my standard spd's.

Thanks everyone. I just wanted to make sure that I wasnt gonna mess them up by taking those allen's out.
I hate to look ignorant by asking questions like that in a store, but sometimes it's the best way. That's not something they teach in school, so you won't be the first one to ask it, either.
In store she said that the plate comes off and the cleat attaches to that. I didnt think anything of it and figured it just clipped on there.

Thanks for the heads up DX-Man.
