Tektro RL570 Brake Cable Installation..
I just picked up the Mercier Kilo TT from Bikes Direct and I just need to know how to attach the brake cables. I tried Google and Youtube for an hour or so and found nothing helpful. It doesn't seem too complicated, but it is as I've been fooling around with it for almost an hour and a half. Thanks.

If you don't already know, these are cross-top or "interrupter" levers. They operate by pushing the housing rather than by pulling the cable. The end result is the same, but the cable housing will be moving.
Run the cable through the "back" of the lever. The molded cable end will butt up against the lever body. It will be small enough to seat in the space normally occupied by the section of housing that runs to the (absent) aero lever. http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp...rack/safty.jpg These levers will tend to hinge the cable at this location and may put it under a greater level of stress. You should periodically inspect this area of the cable for stress or fraying. |
I really don't know any parts on bikes for the most part. I'll try again but it's confusing to me.
What back of lever and which side of the cable? |
If the levers are mounted out at the ends of time trial bars, the cable will pass through in the other direction from the illustration shown by desertdork. In this case, the molded end of the cable will sit in the adjuster barrel, and the housing will fit into the back of the lever.
Those are really versatile levers. |
This all doesn't help me. I honestly can't believe there are no tutorials online on how to do this..

Here's the tutorial you want:
http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-...s-cross-levers It's not really difficult, but getting the cable housing lengths just right, and feeding the cable through everything can be tricky. http://www.parktool.com/uploads/imag...ebrake-614.jpg |

Looks like drop bars, not TT bars. Refer to desertdork's photo. |
Doesn't help but thanks anyways. I'll just get them attached at the bike store.
