Japan disaster: No electric, no gas, cars destroyed, bikes working fine.

It's a horrible thing that's happened in Japan, but people getting out on bikes makes me feel proud that I ride a lot and could deal without a car.

    I wish them well.

People have been using bikes for transportation and utility in Japan for a lot of years, son.

If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military, the hired servants of our rulers. Only the government -- and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws" - Edward Abbey

And well it is, too; considering you might have to ride for miles to get water, food, and medical attention as well.

    True that.

It's also remarkable how yet another cycling "advocate" has used the immediate aftermath of a tragedy to try push their case.

So what are you doing to help those in this ravaged country?

And in regards to you being proud that you are able ride a lot and deal without a car ~ Also be proud that you are PHYSICALLY able to ride while those who are dead or injured from the quake and water cannot.

Yeah. Be proud. You da man. Thread closed.
