does the soreness eventually go away?
Does the soreness eventually go away so you can ride every day?
When your first starting bicycling is it bad to ride everyday if your legs are sore? So if your legs feel sore the next day is that a sign to rest that day? Also the more your ride the longer your legs can go without being sore? |
yes, at first you might want to stretch to to help your body adjust to using those muscles, cycling uses specialized muscles. So it tends to leave you a bit sore at first. You get used to it.

-Yes. -Your second and third questions are almost the same, for me anyway. If your legs are sore make the next day's ride one where effort is low and cadence is high, or just higher than normal. If you're very sore or the level of soreness hasn't diminished take a day or two off the bike. -We're all different, but at some point you won't be sore unless you're purposely pushing yourself. As a side note, yesterday my last leg of the ride was into a 30ish MPH headwind. I was aggrevated because I had items that were semi scheduled following the ride and I was running behind. Instead of a little cool down time on the bike I just parked it and went on with my day. Today I've a sore neck, shoulders and thighs. Thighs I can understand, neck and shoulders probably because I'd become aggrevated and was probably gripping the bars too tightly... I'll ride tomorrow. :) Brad |
What is your cadence?

Yes. This is what happens when you HTFU!

I usually find that if my legs are sore/tight, then riding that day helps the soreness go away.

And how far are you riding?

Momentum can be helpful but only when you have some. There is no substitute for gearing down and pedaling up the hill - legs and lungs are the ticket. Takes time and miles to build up both of those.
|
My advice is like everyone else's. Go easy when you're sore, but keep riding. You'll get stronger and eventually ten miles will leave you feeling you've missed something.

Define how sore. If the legs have a minor ache you probably just used the muscles a little more than they are used to. Continuing at a moderate pace will probably help. If they actually hurt to where it is painful you have overdone it and need to take a day or two off.

Do Yoga. Not kidding. Look up Warrior pose, Serpent, and Downward Facing Dog. Serpent's mostly for back.
Just go for 30-45 seconds each (or each side). A few minutes a day. |
