Replenishing Electrolytes with V8

I'm wondering how good of an alternative using V8 (low sodium) to Gatorade is for replenishing electrolytes. Right now my rides are less than an hour, could I just bring water with me and have a glass of v8 when I get home?

thanks!

If you are looking to lose weight, drinking energy drinks or even V8 is not going in the wrong direction. I do not think you are sweating enough in one hour to need more than plain water. I would skip the V8 unless it is part of your normal eating habits.

Our bike club has V8 at the last rest stop on the century ride we sponsor and I think it's a good alternative to the sports-specific drinks. But unless the "less than an hour" rides are of very high intensity I don't think they would require any special change in normal food and fluid intake.

There is some sodium and potassium in original V8. https://www.v8juice.com/Products.aspx

if you want the best electrolyte replenishment with barely any calories, its pedialyte, it may not taste the best but one 8 oz cup is equivelant to a 20 oz bottle of gatorade, i drink an entire liter a day reguardless of riding since im prone to dehydration

It's better to get nutrients ect from real food than from drinks, unless you need them on the bike.

I sometimes drink V8 when I get home. The potassium helps prevent cramps.
