Probably because he didn't remove all the existing imperfections. Matt paint would hide them better whereas polished would require that he take all the existing paint off and prime before painting.

Hmmmm... I've always just used a garden hose. But bare titanium is like that.
BTW - Funny remark on the Polish sausage tasting response. Not being homophobic, I guess I just took the photo a little less threatening.
