A Saris Bones may be your only option. My fit book only goes to 2009 so I'm not sure. They fit the hardtop MINIs. I don't think you can put a receiver hitch on these either.

I've seen the Saris work with a Mini-Cooper.

We ordered a Mini and are expecting in a couple weeks. Quite excited.

We also had one a few years ago and looked at an available receiver hitch for it. Wasn't cheap, but gave you a lot of flexibility.

This is what the Saris website says about your car.
"Sorry. No trunk racks were found for that make, model, and year of car. To speak with a customer service representative about available alternatives, call 1-800-783-7257."

Looks like you should have bought a different car.

For some reason, I think it's a factory option. A friend of mine had a 2005 Mini Cooper Convertible and below the rear bumper, there were two receivers (maybe 2 feet a part or so) where the rack slid in to. Again, she got it from the dealer like that...

I think a 1-1/4" hitch can be installed on the cooper. really expensive from the dealer. I'm not sure how many bikes a hitch rack for this size reciever will hold. Probably only 2, having 3-4 bikes off the back end of the cooper may effect the handling.

Saw a recumbment on a Miata with a receiver hitch,,once. Being the MINI convertible has a bottom hinged trunk lid,, might affect, or limit your off-the-shelf rack choices. Get the BMW factory aftermarket catalog? All car companies want a piece of the aftermarket action.

I'd would strongly encourage a hitch rack. Curt makes hitches for Minis, which can be found on-line for ~$100 if you shop around, but only lists up to 2010. Other manufacturers may have hitches for 2011 or Curt may soon come out with one if the 2010 hitches won't fit.
