can this rear rack fit onto my road bike?

ignore the title. I was going to ask a question, but I've figured it out. But I have another question. So instead of starting another thread, I'm just going to use this one...

My roommate is fat (he doesn't mind people calling him fat). He's been busy with his physics PhD and he's now trying to get into a stats PhD program. poor guy doesn't leave the apartment very often, and he's been trying to get back in shape by walking. Honestly, he's not going to get far by walking. jogging would be too demanding for him, so the next best thing is biking.

How can I convince him to get a bike?

I gained over 50 pounds in two years and I'm slowly taking some off by biking. I just started to bike and it's less painful to my leg(compared to running/jogging) and I actually enjoy every ride. Does your friend have the time to be biking?... PhD in physic/stats is serious stuff isnt it?.. I'm still doing my undergrad stuff here ):

The most sure way to lose weight is to diet by counting calories and limiting your intake to a specific determined number. Exercising while doing is healthier, but actually makes it more difficult as it make you hungrier and you need to account for what you burn. Voice of experience...

leave him alone walking is fine and he can lose a lot of weight by walking. did you know you burn as many calories walking a mile as you do running a mile? he can walk an hour a day and work on his nutrition plan, like tuna and carrots for lunch, small protein snacks when he is hungry; low sugar breakfast and protein before bed. let him do his own thing man.
cycling is like baseball ~ it doesn't take much to make it interesting
