Hi.

I was wondering what saddles ya'll use. My last ride had a koobi pursuit (which was okay, but ugly), but I want something nice for my new ride. So, what do you guys ride? I generally gravitate towards saddles with the groove in the middle (I'm very protective of my twig and berries). Any thoughts on that? Maybe brooks?

I have two kids...I want something to sterilize me without pain. I ride a Selle Italia Turbo

Flite as well. I recently picked up a Selle Italia SLR. Light as all heck but very very thin - didn't want to break that in over a long ride so went back to the Flite.

My favorite saddle was my white perforated Turbo. It's still on my mountain bike despite not being a mtb saddle. Frankly it's probably only the second most comfortable, after my Selle Italia Expedia on my street-track despite being a mtb saddle. It's a close tie, I really like them both and I only put the Turbo into second spot because it's in pretty rough shape. Far and away the least comfortable is my rain bike saddle, a Selle San Marco Concor Supercorsa. It's so freakin hard, but it's old skool panache, so whatcha gonna do? :)

Yeah, I've entertained having a Brooks, but I'm not sure I'm up to the responsibility. It's like having a pet or a child.

It is indeed. Always have to have a wal-mart saddle cover to keep it out of the rain. Worry about leaning it up against things because it'll scratch; every wreck adds more character. The saddle is pretty comfortable, it's my bike that sucks.

Fizik poggio-Alot more than what i wanted to spend on a saddle but it feels good on my butt and its super candy...creme, gold, red plastic and ti rods; four things the world needs more of...

Selle San Marco Regal. black, perforated, copper plated rails and rivets. a poor man's brooks, perhaps. i haven't come to a complete judgement on it, but it is MUCH better than the san marco pilot racing that was on my bike before. it has very little padding over a nice and compliant nylon shell.

neither are extremely comfortable, but they are light, stylish and a cheaper alternative to a vasectomy.

Currently a Fizik Pave, but with luck I'll be changing that to a Selle Italia SLR or a Fizik Arione within a few months.

I hear the Fizik Arione is like, the most comfortable thing ever. I like the shape, and the fact that my relatively tiny ass (I'm not only white, but 6'2", 150lbs) will have a lot of place to move around.

The Selle Italia Flite is basically the standard. The Brooks saddles sound like WAAAAY too much work.

I'm trading a Coppi K12 (the OG one with crazy custom-drawn tubing) for a bunch of stuff at my LBS, so I'm tempted to say money is no object.

But I must admit, I still love my original Flite.

i, like yourself, have no ass, at all. Not even a hint of an ass. My girlfriend says it looks like im carrying a cookie sheet in the back of my pants. and the poggio is perfect for the butt-disadvantaged.

I like it cheap, thin and comfy - stole it from my mtb and will never take it off.

And nothing beats the gel pad up front with the "love channel" down the back........

The Speed She

I use a Fizik Arione and it's the best saddle i have used so far. I think it's the "wing flex" that makes it so comfy. The seat kinds of bends with the motion of your butt as you pedal:)

Forte Pro SLX from Performance. Weighs almost nothing and rivals a lot of top saddles at 1/3 the cost. Far more comfy (for me) than it looks.

Saddles are a very personal thing. I tried 13 saddles over a 15 year period in an attempt to find one that would be comfortable over 60 miles to no avail until I splurged and got the Brooks Swift. I have rode on that saddle for up to 153 miles in one day with out the discomfort of the others, (of course my butt was killing me after 153 miles but that was over twice as far as the previous ones). Also the Brooks breaks into your butt so your "twigs and berrys" are more comfortable. A lot like a pair of leather shoes that break into your feet, the Brooks saddle does the same thing. I doubt if you would want to walk around in hard plastic or carbon fiber shoes because they won't break in.

The Brooks works for me and had I discovered that years ago I could have saved somewhere around $1000 in saddles!!!!! But just because the Brooks or whatever brand works for me or someone else does not mean it will work for you. Interesting note though; most people that tour ride on Brooks either the B17 or the Professional; so there must be some truth to leather saddles being more comfortable in general.

Be warned, if your a weight winnie, the Brooks will be probably your heaviest saddle at 350grms for the Swift and up from there.

I have the exact same saddle...thousands of comfortable miles, including many centuries. But what they say is true no two butts are alike, it's the distance of your sit bones.

actually, for $25 at nashbar, I'm considering this saddle in yellow. Anyone had any experiences with the Selle San Marco Concor?

If only I could get my hands on this, though. It would be PERFECT!
