    What an inspiration

BBC Tomorrow's World programme had an article about a german paraplegic lady who had got back to cycling by manually stimulating her muscles by way of electrical pads. (She suffered burns on the way)

Anyway this has now been improved on (I think the recumbent was a "Windcheetah"

Thanks for posting. I have been following the evolution of electrical stimulation for many years. Today's electronic technology is finally approaching the point at which it will be able to bridge a gap in the nervous system. When Christopher Reeve claims that he will one day walk again, I believe him. The only questions now are how soon and whether electronic or biological engineering will get him there first.

They are using a similar technology to treat parkinson's disease with very promising results.

If they can combine that with that new pill that they've been talking about on the news that builds muscle, it could be a huge improvement in quality of life for people with spinal cord or neurologic diseases.
