I see that many of the new trainers come with an additional skewer to change out your existing rear wheel so you don't scratch/damage yours. Is it hard to change? It would seem as simple as unscrewing the cap and removing it. Is it that simple or am I missing something? I have skewers from an older bike I'd like to use on my new wheels for my trainer.

Yup, it really is that easy. The narrow end of the spring goes next to the axle.

On my wife's trainer (CycleOPs), I think it is more of a fit question, but yes - it is so easy that even I can do it.
