OOPS! Anybody else this goofy?
I spent 2 or 3 weeks researching what bike to buy. The bike I decided on was said to be unavailable until fall. So, I spent another 2 weeks deciding to buy my second choice bike. I ordered it Sunday. Tuesday night, somebody at the first choice bike company called me to say they were getting one bike, the unobtainable model, in my size, back from a dealer who had fallen on hard times and wanted to return his display model.
So, I told them I would take it, and now I have two brand new bikes on their way to me.
It will take some "splaining" to the wife, why I have two brand new $1000+ bikes coming in the same week. Hopefully, I can return the second choice bike without too much of a restocking fee, or maybe even resell it at a reasonably small loss.
The first ordered/second choice bike is a Felt Verza City 1. The second ordered/first choice bike is a Brodie Once.

Cycle Year Round
Sounds like one bike needs to go straight to the office for lunch time rides.

Have I done anything that goofy? yes and no, never got two bike like that but somehow I have 10 bikes laying around the house. But at least the wife encourages me since I could be buying worse things.

If you actually get very serious about riding, you will find it advantageous to have two bikes- if one's in the shop, you can still ride, etc.

Never use the word 'buy' or 'spend'. Bikes are INVESTMENTS.
Sometimes they buy it; sometimes they don't. It's always worth a try.

Now if you had a cycling related business, and you used a bike in furtherance of it, that might be a different story.

So you "struck while the iron was hot" and got the bike you wanted in the first place.
Tell your wife that you did the same with her so there can be nothing wrong with your choices!! (a little butter never hurt anyone!)

The Verza City 1 was supposed to be delivered yesterday. When I called to find out where it was, it had not been shipped. So, I cancelled the order. It made me very sad. Oh well... the Once is s'posed to ship on Monday. Not sure how long it will take to get from Vancouver to Baltimore, but I am willing to bet it will be the only one I'll ever see in B'more. The Brodie folks pronounced it "On-chay" but a Spanish speaking friend pronounces it more like "ON-say." It's Spanish for eleven. I'm thinking I need a Spinal Tap tee shirt that says, "This one goes to eleven."

Nice fantasy. Investments are expenditures for which a pecuniary return is expected...you know, things like stocks, bonds, real estate, capital equipment used in a business... No matter how much enjoyment, improvement in health, etc. you might get from a bike, it's not an investment, thought that's what marketeers would have you believe.
Now if you had a cycling related business, and you used a bike in furtherance of it, that might be a different story.
