I can see having two road bikes one in case the other is being repaired and possibly one fixed speed for zipping around town, but I have motorcycles for that, so two road bikes for me.

There's only one more bike I'd like to add to the two I already have, and that's a Mixte framed bike. Either the Soma Buena Vista or the Rivendell Betty Foy.

Well, I have a Bacchetta Giro 20 recumbent, a 20 year old Specialized Hard Rock, A Giant Stiletto Chopper for parades, a Kabuki Syd 10 speed and an American Eagle/Nishiki 10 speed. So those must be the 5 bikes I would own.

Five? There's no way I could afford 2 bikes. Nor would I have any place to put them in an apartment. Nor would I would able to justify more than 1 to my lovely wife. Well, maybe if I lived in a mountain-ish region I could justify a MTB but being in flat Florida, that ain't happening.

I'd like to upgrade the frame on my homebuilt touring bike to a Surly LHT... but my chosen components would be kept so just the frameset really..

I'd like to have a MTB but don't really have a chosen model.

my next purchase is likely to be a MTB but I doubt I'll ever have 5 bikes... I think my cap would be 4.

I seem to have "maxed" at three, and they seem to cover my fundamental needs... Five feels like a dream...

Raleigh Airlight '08 roadbike (what I call my "dress" bike)

Then again I have to keep at least one for my daughter too, so that would need counting and takes me to four.

I'd love it if my place of work would have an "extracycle" and I did recently organize a "beater" as the "office cycle" (I work at a small recycle oriented place) so maybe I am up to the five in a roundabout way.... Can't complain anyway.

I have:

1) Road Bike - 1970's Libertas "???" build up with 9speed Tiagra/Sora/SRAM Rival mix. Its my road/training bike.
2) Track Bike - 2007 Schwinn Madison.
3) Mtn Bike - 1996 Klein Pulse Comp.

I would like to add:

4) Felt TK2. This would replace the Madison on the track and the Madison would become the commuter/winter beater.
5) A carbon road bike, or perhaps even a custom steel. Something for going fast and races.

2) A custom BMX (Just in case my main has something break so I don't have to stop riding)
3) A nice 24" BMX Bike
4) A nice hardtail mountain bike with front suspension (don't know much about MTBs, so that may mean nothing)
5) A road bike.

For me, I would have to make the list only after I have a custom frame made for me. I guess that would be number #1 on the list. From there, depending on my experiences, then would be the other 4.

Five? I would be happy with two! I would buy yet another mountain bike with a chromemoly frame,add a good forks with shocks that can be locked for riding the trails. Then I would set my current mtb up as a road/touring and anything goes bike.

2. Trek speed concept, this would be the TT bike

3. I already like my specialized mountain bike

4. Nice Raleigh hybrid, something for road biking in the rain

other than that i wouldnt have a need for anything more

I'll keep my vintage bike cause it's fun to ride every now and then.

A fixed gear for kickin around on.

I wouldn't mind building a rat bike. They look fun and I have all the tools and most of the required skills to do it. I also have a strange need to tinker.

Since that's only only 4, I'll throw in kit of parts to build an unbranded carbon road bike.

Thorn Nomad expedition tourer with Rohloff IG hub. Touring, hauling groceries etc.
Giant TCR for racing/training
Giant SCR C4 for long-distance stuff
Kona Paddy Wagon SS/FG for tooling around town.
1984 Raleigh Royal tourer for general riding around. So comfortable it may squeeze out the SCR for endurance work.
