A Salvaged Touring Bike

Thanks to the Bike Kitchen of San Francisco:

So after volunteering my services to the BK of San Francisco, I selected a nice steel (Giant Innova) frame from their vast collection of recylable frames. It was an odd purple color with a slightly bent drop-out. After having the drop-out straightened at a LBS, I then proceeded to have the bike powder-coated black, at Leon's in Oakland. The powder-coating paint-job turned out to be of excellent quality! - Gracias, mis amigos de Leon's!

Next, I spent the following week installing both new and salvaged parts onto my "new" frame. It turns out that my "new" Giant Innova frame, is actually a hybrid of Road/MTB/Touring charcateristics.

At this point, she rides smooth and fine. All she needs now are the Touring components to make her official. In a couple more weeks, she'll be ready to spread her black magic all over the state of California!

Kudos to the Bike Kitchen of San Francisco!

Thanks JP for your excellent education!

Yes, you and I are lucky to have bike coalitions, community bike services in our cities. I would like to see a photo of your creation! Nothing more satisfying that building a bike from scratch!

For some reason, I can't seem to be able to locate my digital camera. That's ok! If I can't locate it by this weekend, I'll purchase a new one and snap a few pics by Sunday night.
