Motiv vs Mongoose... I just need a college bike!

Yeah... I'm being sacrilegious... I'm looking at a Walmart bike. Mongoose XR-200, $170, front disk brake, Shimano 21 speed. In fact, here's the link. Would it even be worth selling my Motiv to buy this one? Or are Mongoose bikes in general just crap? I just need a better (more manly) bike for college. Just college, that's it. Maybe some tame trails here and there. But I do want it to be somewhat reliable. What do you think?

You know what bike I saw at Walmart recently and actually liked? It was the Mongoose Deception 29er:

It is heresy for me to say, but I ran across one while on vacation and almost bought it then and there just for the fun of it. It would be a better buy than the bike you link to, because the Deception has no rear suspension. It is a basic hardtail that is a much better value for your money than any suspension bike you might buy for the same price. It might fit you better too, being a 29er.

Do bear in mind that I only rode the bike up and down the store aisle to test the fit. I can't speak for long-term reliability. The parts did look ok for the price though.
