South platte river trail
I'm new to the Denver area and I work in Littleton but live in Denver and work until about midnight. I'm curious if anyone else has used this part of the south platte trail this time of night to commute and what their experience has been.

I'm sure you've noticed a lot homeless use our trail system as their "home." I've never been on that trail at night, but I'd imagine anything north of Evans has potential to be sketchy. You might want to check with Denver PD.

Can be sketchy. Even in daylight hours there are tons of unexpected "moving obstructions." Take special care around embankments, bridges, blind spots, bushes etc. Lots of times clipping along you will encounter sudden intrusion of "residents" and lurkers from these areas onto the MUP. Usually they are not nefarious but almost always they are oblivious of anyone moving on the path over 5mph. Basically, it is a path that requires extreme caution at speed ALWAYS and extra caution in the low light hours for unintentional AND intentional hazards.

I hate that section simply due to its somewhat isolated nature. Mainly the mile just north of the flour mill lofts.
I've had a meth head spit at me and someone shove me off of the trail.

Not that it is any consolation but the homeless, druggie/drunk, or general baddy threat is common to virtually every MUP in the urban Front Range. Every year you hear of someone jumped on a MUP in the area and many more attempts probably go unreported. Sadly, most of our urban authorities have "solved" the problems with our fringe society by simply booting them from many of the city areas. For that and a variety of other reasons loads of these people take refuge in the more concealed areas around MUPs...
note: this includes lots of perfectly harmless and generally likable homeless people as well so no need to generalize them all as "up to no good."

I dont ride a night, but the upper part of the platte has loads of them during the day, and it would be really easy for them to "roll"you as you go by,
I called the district 2 station and asked about it (if dangerous), and they said they havent had any problems like that,,,
