noobie question! please help.

well after several trips to the bike shop they finally tell me my rear shimano derailleur off my 2005 Felt S32 is bad i have been trying for weeks to get this bike fixed up for my next big tri! they are all stock parts on the bike i believe its a shimano ultegra for a 10 speed but i do not know which one would work best for my bike. i am also having some trouble with the crank i believe is making some noise when i am going up hill. thanks guys.

ps. i just put a new chain on the bike(yes the right one), new conti tires, had the rear wheel re-done, and grease up everything.

Is this a genuine question?

Find a trustworthy local bike shop, have them order the RD for you and check your bottom bracket.

Rescue your bike at once and take it to a more responsible bike shop!

Derailleurs can usually be saved by replacing the worn-out pulleys.
Crank issues should be sorted out ASAP before any damage is done. Odd noises can be difficult to locate, it may be a worn out chain or something else. A decent bike shop should be able to tell. Ask the local cycling clubs for a recommendation.

Not always. It depends on the age of the equipment. On a ride at the end of last season, I lost a jockey wheel bolt, and then the jockey wheel, from a ca. 1990 Shimano 600 (pre-Ultegra) rd and no one could find a replacement that fit it. I had to get a whole new rd.
