pain in the saddle
I have been riding XC for about 7 months now, i have a 2004 specailized rockhopper (all stock). I start experienceing pain after about 30 minits in the saddle, it isnt severe but it hurts and is very uncomfortable, this is demotivating me to ride and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I currently use the trek baggy shorts that have the skin tight padded short attached. I am 5'9" 160lbs and 16 years old. Any suggestions?

Ok, seriously, which part hurts and what kind of movements cause it? I'm willing to bet its a bad bike fit.

yeah, lots of pain can be relived by proper fitting of your bike. Most males find it to be more comfortable if the saddle is tilted up slightly, whereas some females find that its more comfortable to have the saddle tilted down. I'd tinker with the height and angle of your saddle until you decide to just throw the old one out and get a new one.

Make sure you saddle is level... I don't know what saddle you have but you typically want the nose level with the highpoint of the back of the saddle, or maybe just a bit lower. Also it does help to know what/where it hurts to give an idea of the problem.

it hurts more between the sensitive area and my but right in the middle (you know), I mean it is not horrible like cant ride but it is not helping me, I have the seat that is on the 2004 specailized rockhopper. I find after about an hour I cant sit for more than 2 minits without standing up for about 10 seconds for relief. When I am on the trails it dosnt hurt becuase I ride a hardtail and often have to unweight the back tire, so I am not on the seat too much, but since I am only 16 and cant drive I have to ride to the trails(this is when it hurts) so I guess you would say the movement that hurts the most is no movement at all (when I am in the same position for a long time).

You know, thats what I thought until I tried it. I've found with a slight tilt, the pressure isnt on my boney butt, but more so on my thighs. But as you say to each his own.
