magnetic trainer score!!!

Hi everybody.

I scored a CycleOps magnetic trainer yesterday at a local flea market, i got it for 40dlls!!!

The guy who sold it to me said that it made a loud noise and that it produced a burning smell.

Wen i got home i put my bike on it and in fact the trainer did everything the guy said, so, i took it apart and all it had was that the plate that protects the magnet had 3 screws loose and the plate rubbed the magnet, so i tighten up the screws and put everything back together.

It works like a charm now, and it's quiet as a mouse, the only thing is, i had never used one before!!! and my question is, how tight should the roller be against the wheel???

It has a nob on the back that you can turn in order to accommodate different size wheels, but how tight should it be against the wheel???

Anyway, i think i got a good deal, i searched on line at REI and found that the CycleOps magnetic trainer cost 190 dlls!!!
