Newbie question about Raleighs version numbers for bikes.

With Raleigh does the bikes get better the higher or lower the number?

For instance their is the Detour 2.5, 3.5, and 4.5. There is also the route 3.0 and 2.0. I'm to knew to tell which components are better by name alone.

With Giant I know the lower the number the better the components. Escape 2, Escape 1, Escape 0....etc...

Also I can't find any pricing for the Raleigh Detour's does anyone have a ballpark?

From my experience with Raleigh and Jamis, the quality gets better as the number goes up. The bike is basically the same. You just get better components --- shifters, derailleurs, brakes, etc.

Raleigh used to put a $$, $$$, $$$$ with each bike to give you a ballpark figure of the cost. I guess that changed with the 2012 models.

Here's a link with 2011 prices. Maybe that will help you.

Hey there Ricky!

The Detour frame is steel alright! However, it's not chromoly steel!

The Sedona ST or the Cypress ST are both made of Chromoly Steel!

- Slim :)

ps.

The Raleigh steel is not a bad grade of steel....
