Help me find parts for my $30 bike

I posted on an the Team Estrogen Forum but thought I would try here as well.

Long story short, I bought an interim bike on Craigslist for $30 today. Its a "Specialized" brand but is an older model that needs new tires, new brakes, new grips and a new tubes. I do not want to send too much as I am planning on getting a brand new bike in the Spring. This will be my "practice/throw around" bike. I also have a folder.

Can anyone here recommend inexpensive tires/brakes? Is there a place online that I can buy these things? Does anyone even recognize this bike and know what model it is? Thanks in advance for your help.

nashbar.com or merlin cycles.... brakes and tyres/tubes should be inexpensive...
Honestly, go to a LBS and have them do it. If you buy the parts there, they generally install/adjust for free... and you'll be starting a relationship you can carry on into the future when you do plan on purchasing a new bike...

If you can find another cheap bike to "salvage " the parts you need;
that will save you money. I've heard of folks getting $10 bikes from
the Salvation Army/Goodwill. Another option is if you have a local
bike COOP, you can buy used parts that are still functional.

This is what I'm running in the back, had it for a few months now.
Maybe over 1,000 miles, no flats and seem to be holding up well
on the mean streets of New York City:

Thanks! My father in law took it to my LBS today and they said I got it for a steal. They suggested tires ($25 each) and tubes ($10 each) and said everything else looked good. Not a bad investment and my Father in law is going to put the tires on himself. I'll post pictures once its done (the picture I posted was the one from craigslist). Thanks!

You may want to watch closely, changing tubes is an
important skill every cyclist should know. One never
knows when and where a flat might happen
