Louis Garneau?

So I searched and couldn't find anything particular. I tried on some Louis Garneau shorts at my LBS and loved the way they felt. Kinda pricy then I found these.

Only 39.99 and if you order over 5 items you get another 20% your order.

Do these last long? Anyone have any experience with them?

Hey there Zeerith!

I don't wear lycra anymore after I ended my roadie days. However, there are different levels of lycra fabrics.

I'm not familiar with that particular brand.

- Slim :)

Louis Garneau - they are a Canadian company which has been around a while now (1983). My first helmet was a Louis Garneau way back when ... and I think I've got a Louis Garneau jersey - a custom one.

Awesome, thanks Machka. The shorts I worse moved well with me and felt like it had good airflow. I think I will get a pair and a pair of Pearl Izumi.

I like my Louis Garneau's, have had them for at least 3 years, maybe longer. But watch out for Nashbar, they will give your info to other companies. You may be getting magazines in the mail you never asked for and, if you don't send back their card asking for cancellation they will bill your credit card. Highly unscrupulous use of your credit card info imho, just sayin...........

Cancellation? for what? They don't bill you for catalogs. As far as I can tell they don't save any of your credit card info, isn't that illegal? I've been buying from them for about 6 months now. The quality of there products isn't always the best so make sure you read the reviews first.

Zeerith, I ordered those same shorts, they had great reviews, they just came today. I have a similiar pair of Garneu shorts that were slightly cheaper, they're pretty good. I have the Pearl Izumi Quest shorts too, not sure if those are the ones you were talking about. They're good but on a recent century ride they started to burn a lot near the end. My LBS said that the fibers in the pearl izumi padding is stiffer and not so good for longer rides, so just use them for the shorter rides. Good Luck!!

Yeah those are them Didi, thanks for the info and the heads up. Though I do believe it is illegal I will check their privacy policy before making a account. They have the 20% extra off right now and I just can't turn that up. Considering I am getting my shoes and pedals and shorts/jersey from them.

The deals can't be beat anywhere from what I have seen. On the plus I might rush ship I have been itching to ride so I threw on some cheap 15 dollar pedals and my shoes and shorts were killing me after 5 miles. So looks like I see some new shiny things in my near future.

I've been a Nashbar customer on and off for 25+ years, they've never billed me for anything I didn't order and haven't subscribed be to anything I needed to unsubscribe from.

Their credit card clearing company did get hacked a few years back, not their fault but I seem to recall they weren't as fast as they could have been informing customers.

I went through the credit card hijacking as well, but I this time I'm bothered about those unwanted outdoor living magazines. I'm just bothered that I was given a subscription without asking. there was a thread a few weeks back saying that someone was having a hard time unsubscribing and that their credit card may be billed for renewal unless they reply by mail. Not sure if this is true, but I'll be watching my mail. Also, for a company that espouses outside, environmental issues why is it that they send a huge mag that I don't read and make me recycle it. I'm done reading about 30 year olds who move to New Zealand to buy a farm and bicycle, nor can I afford the rolex's and 5k dollar bikes they advertise and its not likely I'll be skiing in Argentina during the summer. I just don't want the magazine, and I'm doing my personal Nashbar boycott because of it. I suspect they peddle our names to others as well.

I know that this is no big thing in the overall scheme and its not like I'm getting my heart rate up thinking about this, but they are polluting the earth and are making me an unwilling accomplice.

I've had mixed results with LG stuff.

My club bought jerseys from them a few years back. I didn't like the cut so I hardly wear mine. (It's not the fault of LG, it's the fault of the club for ordering the "Omar the Tentmaker" cut for every mens' size. Mine fits just right in the shoulders and neck, and I have room for a friend or two inside around waist.) Other members have gotten good wear out of theirs.

A few year back I bought LG armwarmers, kneewarmers and booties. The booties lasted a couple of months before shredding entirely. The kneewarmers were sized for midgets. By the time I got them pulled up far enough to stay, my knees were exposed. I still have the armwarmers.

It's a seasonal thing. I got caught in it twice, ordering in February or March. They put one of the little "ads" on the right sidebar saying you get $10 off or a free subscription to "Outdoor" magazine with purchases of X dollars. I didn't see it and ended up with the magazine. The first time I blew it off. The second time I cancelled the subscription and got a check for $7.

Now I scour their web site for these sorts of "offers" and when I see them, I order elsewhere. That's actually what led me to begin ordering from the British firms. Better prices, first-quality goods instead of closeouts, better customer service, faster shipping, and no shenanigans.

zeerith 10-09-11 05:51 PM

Thanks for the info on the site. I will keep a eye out. What are some other good sites too use?

Also thanks tsl,I will just order one pair and a different pair just so I have some back ups.
