Need some tips on the future upgrades I might do.
Hi guys, I have a small budget and might get some components which are pretty crucial ( well I think they are ) so here I go.
I thought of getting thinner tyres from my 700x35 to probs 700x28 or should I invest in a new wheelset. Need it for more "aero dynamic" purposes and also to get faster.
I don't even know how I got into single speeding as I'm so performance orientated ( probably because their so easy to maintain ). I was wondering if i should swap my rear 17 teeth cog to 16 teeth as I find that I out-spin myself a lot on the flat run. I can climb hills pretty well without a struggle so I think 16 would be good but i'm not to sure =/. My crank is a 42 but I think that's fine.
42/16 is the standard for the roads right?
Cheers,
Rodger

You'll get a bigger performance increase by improving your fitness than you will by changing any parts, with the possible exception of the rear sprocket. If your gear ratio is too low for you, changing it to a slightly smaller one will enable you to ride faster, as long as you're physically capable of pushing the higher gear. You may struggle a bit on hills but that's what variable gears were invented for

You should be able to go down to a size 28 tire without changing rims. Aero rims only help at higher speeds above 20 mph. However, smaller & lighter high pressure tires will improve acceleration and climbing.
I saw these on sale: https://www.bikesdirect.com/fantastic...pro_wheels.htm
These are Front - 100mm , Rear - 120mm plus these come with 2 5mm spacers
