Trinity Site
Last night Hackaroo and I where talking about expanding our rides for the New Year. He mentioned a ride to the Trinity Site (the site of the first US Atomic Bomb Test). We both thought it would be a great trip! The ride is only open once or twice a year by the goverment:

Has anyone ever made the ride? If so, any information you could provide would be helpful.
Thanks,

I want to visit the site too, so i looked at the site.
Does not list a restriction on bikes comming in, but it is open very limited hours just two days a year (first Sat in April, first Sat in October).
It is on a military base, so I'd call them and ask about riding.

Yes, we intent to do that. The part I liked the best is the warning to stay on the road due to unexploded ordances. Thats one warning you do not have to repeat for me.

I wonder if the military, or anyone else for that matter, ever really cleaned up after the trinity blast. Maybe riders can spot a few two-headed lizards.

Hmmmm ... the radiological half life of plutonium is about 24,000 years and the biological half life is about 20 years for liver and 50 years for skeleton. Are you bringing your bar-mounted Geiger counter?

On the site they say what the background radiation is now.
They also say not to pick anything up, especially not any of the green glass.
I didn't read it today, but it seems to me that I remember the levels are above normal background, but not by much.
