Bib-shorts
Hey folks,
I have been looking at bike shorts and deciding which are the ones to get. I am looking at a site called Aero Tech Designs, they seem pretty good and the prices are not bad. I see Bib-shorts and I am wondering if those are better than standard shorts? My back isn't the very best from my years of working in the coal mines and the bibs almost look like they could act as a back support with the compression and all.... thoughts? |
I have a white jersely from them, so I can only speak to that and say that I'm satsfied with it. I've looked at their bib-shorts and have consided trying them but haven't. I wouldn't count on them providing much back support. Any compression is primarily in the legs and not so much the waist and back.

Bibs fit well and feel good. They don't support the back. I'm not aware of any clothing that does that. I'm probably wrong.

Being slightly circumferentially enhanced (5-10, 210), the big benefit of bibs for me is they completely, and I mean completely, eliminate the whole waistband rollover issue I have with nearly all shorts I wear. That's enough of an advantage that bibs are just about all I buy. I can't speak for "normal" folks.
Oh, and Dudelsack is right - they offer no back support whatsoever. |
Yeah. When you ride bent forward on a road bike the tops of shorts can bunch or roll up on your stomach and become uncomfortable. Bibs eliminate this. The straps are very soft and stretchy so as to be as unnoticeable and as comfortable as possible on your shoulders. The only thing they support is the top of your shorts.

I like shorts better bcause when it comes time to use the restroom, bibs are somewhat of a pain. Just my 2 cents.

Lycra is not going to be a strong enough for back support , but it will keep your shorts
from demoing the backside cleavage to those following you .. when I have to Move stuff I get out the back support , I would not like to try to ride my Bike for Weeks of Days wearing it. |
