1. Stop periodically to refill.
2. Get a large saddlebag or panniers and stash water jugs in them.
3. Drive your route ahead of time and cache water in hidden locations.
4. Find someone to ride with you and carry your water.
5. Carry a water filter and use lake and creek water along the way.
6. Pray for rain.

behind hte seat carrier - 2 (total 4)
handlebar mount cages - 2 (if you have no lights, etc up there, total 6)
If you have a rear rack, add 4 (total 10)
assume 16oz bottles, that's 160 oz of liquid....I think that should be more than adequate

Western desert riders have pioneered backpacks that will hold two 100 oz bladders, add two frame
mounts with 28 oz bottles and two behind seat bottles and you are upto 312 oz. Steve

Ok, since you seem dead set against frame mounted bottle cages and backpack hydration, here are a few other options.
1. Drill a hole in your top post and fill your frame with water, run a drinking tube from the bottom post up to your mouth. You'd still have the extra weight of the water, but not the water carrying devices.
2. Get a friend to fly over and slightly ahead your bicycle in a helicopter. He can spray water directly into your mouth from a hose and tank located in the copter. This way you totally eliminate the water and device weight from your bike, but the increased wind resistance would probably offset any advantage.
3. Pre-hydrate by drinking a couple of gallons before setting out. Use a catheter from your shorts, up your jersey and into your mouth to re-cycle as needed.
