...because I crashed hard today. I hadn't crashed like this in 12 years. I was taking a turn, at speed, that I had taken at speed a hundred or so times before. About a quater through the turn, BANG!, the rear tire blows out. The bike slids out from under me, and I slid to a stop. My right shin has considerable road rash. I even left a skid mark off my leg on the road.

I called my wife, and we went to an Urgent Care Center rather then the ER. The deducable was cheaper, and the service tons better. They spent three hours cleaning the wound anfd taking X-rays. Now I get to miss work this weekend, that includes holiday pay lost, and get a nice disciplinary write up for missing peak time work.

I hate mechanical failures causing my crashes. I prefer when its my fault.

anyways glad you are seemi ok. Heck you might be safer amongst the trees :D

Looks like the only damage is the rear shifter cable. It was torn out of the attaching screw, and that screw us damaged as well. The hanger looks OK as does the rear derailliuer. I didn't fall off the bike, I just rode the bike down. My LBS is closed for the holidays, so I'll be getting to them next week. I'm sitting home from work this weekend, and I hate college football.

Good luck on the recovery... I really hate road rash, my whole leg got it when I was hit my a car 3 weeks or so ago...

Sounds like your bike came out ok... have it checked though (like I should say). My bike was significantly more damaged then I originally though it was at the time.
