    spectating on a stage race

Is it really that fun or enjoyable to see a race as a spectator when the riders only come by once ?

I have never been to a stage race but I have seem many criteriums and cross races which I find enjoyable as a spectator.

I couldnt imagine though sitting and waiting for 8 hours to see the pelton fly by once and I get a 5 second look at the racers.

Depends on where you are. Certain places in a race are more exciting than others, like fast turns. Climbs are also great because the riders are going slower and you can see their suffering.

You need to camp out, get drunk, then run alongside in your underwear.
