This pic has been floating free on the internet for several years now. I'd love to know the back story on it, but every time I've found it posted somewhere, nobody knows.

Tineye currently finds about 85 copies, but none seem to offer any explanation.

Princess and the bike - I mean pea? Maybe they have OCD about riding the same bike twice, but definitely a complex about getting rid of any.

Looks like a bicycle junkyard. I've seen a couple here in Vegas. Some enterprising backyard bike mechanic/flipper post adds saying they'll pick up damaged bikes, collects bikes from the dump, maybe buys some from yard sales and thrift stores, keeps or ebays the best stuff, Craigslist the mid-level complete bikes, and stores the rest like a giant parts bin, and let people come pick through it just like an auto pick-a-part junkyard.

Yikes, that's a whole lot of bikes. I too would love to know the story behind the pic.

IIRC the photo originally comes from Canada, Vancouver or Toronto i think, and it was a guy who was stealing and reselling, and got caught by the popo (or Canadian Mounted Police Inspectors as they're referred to in the native tongue).

I guess that is what the backyard of all those CL posters who constantly post the stolen bikes for sale look like.

For the record, I find it hilarious that these sellers keep taking pictures of all their "for sale" bikes against the same backgrounds. Don't they realize that people start to recognize the backgrounds and figure they couldn't possible own all these bikes of different sizes?

+2

'cept I dont think it was Canada, somewhere in the southern States. But it was aloooooong time ago when I read the story.

Kinda looks like my living room with model trains, but they arent stolen. I realized I had a problem with too many trains when there were more trains in the china hutch than there was china. Even after my expansion is built, I'll have more trains than track. I'm pathetic...........
