Can you recommend a Bike Magazine for a Newbie ?
Like something that comes out once a month.
Lots of ads and sales OK.
For someone new into bicycling. Just general stuff. All types of bikes.
And a killer/ cheap subscription price would be nice too.
Plus..What mags do they offer over the internet for free? thanks...

See what is in the Library,
or grocery stores, big ones
scan some of the ones in the racks for sale,
there is usually a subscription card, that falls out..
to start a subscription, if you like it.

They havent made one yet. All for deep pockets and a short attention span. Best to buy a book on cycling for beginners and read the forums. Plenty of reviews online for different bikes and products. Bicycletimes best Ive seen but more for tourist and urban cycling.

What kind of cycling are you interested in?
Speed, silly clothing, absurdly expensive lightweight bike? Bicycling.

I second Bicycle Times 
and their sister mag Dirt Rag,been subbin to the Rag since the mid 90's,and BT since issue 1. Urban Velo is a pretty decent read as well,you can read it fee online ( https://www.urbanvelo.org ).and 3 bucks an issue for print copies,or $18 per year (6 issues).

Personally, I don't care for Bicycle Times. I subscribed for a year and it's not really for roadies. It's good if you're into commuting/utility cycling, advocacy, etc. Road Bike Action is pretty good IMO. I also subscribe to Bicycling (meh, but not bad for newbies), Velo News, Road, and a few others on and off. In the scheme of things, they're cheap enough and a valuable component of a systematic training plan, the recovery part.

A lot depends on what you are interested in. But then remember that most magazines sell advertising, and exist to try to sell you the latest most expensive gadget. Bicycling was a great magazine in the late seventies with a lot of information. The Rivendell Readers and Bicycle Quarterly have a lot of valuable information and opinion. If you read the back issues of both magazines, you'd learn a lot about cycling.

If you join League of American Bicyclists, you will get American Bicyclist and Bicycling magazine included in the price of membership.

I love bicycle times. If I had to choose another it would be Velo News.

Ended up subsribing to Bicycle Magazine.
My first Bike Mag ever.... so will start with the basics.
And the price was good. 12 issues.
Got if for 10 bucks a year.
