Punished-the guy sure showed me.

Two weeks ago I was dumping an old dishwasher in the alley when a new resident for the apartment next door marched up and told I couldn't do that. After a long day of installing a dishwasher, the last i wanted was to deal with some jackass butting in where his opinion is neither informed or wanted. I live in a poor 'hood, where the recyclers scour for anything sellable, be it for re-use or recycling. After an exchange of sharp words, he retreated into his apartment. The dishwasher was gone in the morning. To get back at me, he threw a crappy old Micargi cruiser in front of my dumpster.

Two new tires and tubes, set of handgrips and a quick spray can paint job I sold it for $80.00. Quick $55 dollar profit. Horrible toad of a bike, but the guy who bought it will ride it around the beach, get drunk & forget where he parked it. Maybe it'll last two years and have a rear wheel collapse. Or get left behind when he moves. Either way, everybody's now happy.

That's not a bad looking bike. Looks almost new to me :-) You really got $80 for it? Seems high, but what do I know about used bikes.

Well done grasshopper. You have restored the flow of the Tao.

I've lived in neighborhoods like yours. Once I threw out a couch. By the time I returned with the pillows, someone was waiting to see if they would be included. This was at midnight mind you.

I had to get rid of a washer/dryer combo. It was gone before I got back in my apartment. A refrigerator literally did not get off the front step before a guy with 7 fridges in the back of a truck took it from me. I live on the front line of recycling. My alley has made me a few bucks.

This is prime cruiser season. A lot of folks are looking for a cheap semi-disposable bike. I put it at $80 just for the hell of it. Come September, old mountain bikes & hybrids move fast for back to school. I mostly serve the $100-$200 market.
