WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING ON INDEPENDENCE DAY (JULY 4th**?

What are your plans for Independence Day (July 4th)? Do you plan on riding your bicycle in a parade, taking a club ride, cookout, fireworks, and/or other activities? It may be a little early to start this thread but it often takes time to know what they will be doing. If you don't know, start thinking about it . When you have a good idea of your plans are, please discuss.

On July 4th (a non-holiday day for us) we could very well be cycling somewhere in Japan.

July 4 = Holiday Paid Time Off.
Weather permitting, hope to be riding on tandem club ride on that day.

Hopefully a nice long bike ride and packing for a short work assignment in the middleeast for the rest of the summer.

As mentioned, July 4 is also a paid holiday for me. I will be hungover, most likely. Then a coffee shop and hopefully a nice bike tour around Pioneer Valley.

Why, are you looking for places to burglarize?

Last 4th of July, one of the other tenants of the apartment complex that I live in burned down their building by accidently shooting a bottle rocket in through an open window. So I don't imagine I will be shooting off fireworks in the parking lot.

Looks like I have a change of plans. I'll be flying to Charleston, Sc. so I can be there for a job interview on Friday. Get to Charleston Wednesday night, chill on Thursday, sweat out an interview on Friday after holding down the same job for well over 20 years, come back home on Saturday. Gonna be a long weekend after that.

I'll be adding confederate flag stickers to my pickup truck.

Seriously, my wife returns home on the 3rd after two weeks in Malawi, Africa. I imaging that we'll be talking, holding hands and catching up, generally. Riding my bike will be distant thought at best...

I plan to stay home, BBQ, do some fireworks, and catch up on beer drinking.
I hate going out on holidays because of the traffic, crowds etc.

I'll be doing a lot of things on the 4th of July.

I plan on returning to the Central Maine area where I'll be visiting several members of my family who still reside there. I plan on enjoying many summer activities such as hiking, swimming, etc. In the town of Belgrade Lakes, ME, there are two parades. One is an antique boat parade. The second one is a homespun parade which anyone can be in. For the past years, the parade marshal has had me lead its bicycle unit, consisting of children and adults alike. Even you can participate if you wish. There are also many other activities which take place from 7:00 AM through most of the afternoon.

I also plan on attending the town's fireworks display, which is launched from the middle of one of the lakes.

Work. No day off for me. Our company message on the subject was something like "We will be observing the 4th of July holiday on July 6th this year." I'd love the day off, be patriotic like I am and all, but it's also pretty nice to get a three day weekend.

Now it appears that I will be circulating petitions for Regnat Populus, a group named after our state's motto, (The People Rule). It eliminates politicians accepting gifts from lobbyists. ($100 x 365 = $36,500 so it can add up), It bumps up the waiting time between being a politician and becoming a lobbyist from one to two years, and puts limits on corporate donations to politicians.
