    Salvaging Broken Bike parts

If any one remebers my past thread i was hit by a van the other day.

I want a better bike how ever i dont wanna pay the better bike price haha.

On my bike that got run over the rim got bent. The frame in the rear got bent. the seat not the seat post was damaged. The metal the holds my derailure is bent but the derailure it self and the brakes are all still fine. the shifters, fork etc. So basically all i need to do to get a functioning bike is to get a new frame handle bars and seat.

I might not even need a rim if i can put the gears on the other rim. (Its possible right)

So now im trying to build the best possibly bike for under $200

^^Is that good? And how do i find out if all the parts fit the parts i already have?

+1. If you were anywhere near Portland, Oregon, I'd point you at either Community Cycling Center: http://www.communitycyclingcenter.org/ or Citybikes: http://www.citybikes.coop/ . Both sell used bikes, parts, and frames.

A setup like this is going to be much less frustrating than trying to buy stuff off E-Bay. Things might fit or they might not. They might be better than what you have or they might not. It's a crapshoot.

The stuff will definetly be better.

My current (broken) frame is made of steal and is heavy.

I dont really care to much for the seat. The handle bars are the real crap shoot.
