Shaving and Weather...
Hello all,
Interesting question came up today about shaving and I wanted to know if this is a normal thing or not and how to prevent it.
I never had this problem before I tarted shaving but now it is apparent... goose bumps...
Well when it is cold I get all these little bumps over my legs. They do not inch etc, they just get bumpy...
Does this have to do with actually shaving rather than the cold? Is there a way to prevent this?
Thanks

You probably got them when you weren't shaving, they were just hidden by the hair. If I remember correctly, when you get cold, your hair stands up, to trap warm air close to your body. With shaved legs, the folicles still 'stand up' but since there's no hair attached, you just see the bump.
I could be wrong, though.
As for prevention:
1. stop shaving
or
2. stay warm.

First, are you a guy or a gal??? Not that I think it matters too much but this is very normal for women. Usually once you get warm the bumps go away. If the bumps don't go away then you may have razor burn. Try using a shaving cream with aloe in it. This makes the skin very smooth.

Relax,
Goose bumps are not a problem, are a normal human reaction to cold air for both men and women and not a result of your shaving. That said, shaving off your leg hair, will make your legs feel cooler. The hair on your legs traps warmth and acts like insulation. Without out the hair, there is nothing there to insulate your legs thus goosebumps when you get cold. The only way to prevent this is to dress warmly. You could also stop shaving, however but I'll bet a lot of people have had goosebumps even with the hair still on thier legs.
