Anyone else BLEEPING sick of hearing this? I'm glad there's a cycling movie coming out and all.. but does it have to seem so damn terrible?

So let's get you on point. Have you seen the ads? Do you think it'll be a good movie?

Hopefully It'll be a pretty entertaining movie, if its good and makes more people ride than thats even better. With any luck it would be popular enough to make the hipsters turn elsewhere, leaving the rest of us

I like the cinematic portrayal of bike messengers, at least from the ads I've seen.
What I don't get is why all bike messengers ride singlespeed. they're pretty hard core, way more hardcore than jimmy johns.

Bicycling movies revenues generally suck when released to theaters and then develop a following when released on video, but this one is so limited in scope, and is about a subject that most cyclist couldn't care less about, that I think "Grind" will look like a runaway hit by comparison. I hope they had fun filming it, because I doubt that anyone will buy a new home with the money they make from it.

No idea what you're talking about at all. I haven't even seen one ad about a new cycling movie.

Two things I don't get: (1) what cycling movie, and (2) what/who is JGL? Otherwise, I'm following the discussion very well. It's like I'm at home trying to listen to my teenagers. [Blank stare; Thinking to self: don't I need to go clean the backyard grille or something...]

I'm with you!
But instead of cleaning the backyard grille ... go for a long ride.

Its not as bad as I was expecting. The storyline is decent, the directing is pretty good, the acting is okay (except for a couple people), the stunts were pretty good - some obvious CGI that mostly involved riding into and through NYC traffic, a nice Danny Macaskill type sequence, and the girlfriend is smoking hot
Now the bad: this is going to cause impressionable riders to take off their brakes, theres one messenger riding a full carbon geared bike thats annoying, the cops act like sub intelligent goofballs.
I wouldnt have paid full price to see it, but its a great dollar movie/Blu Ray purchase. If you can see it with about 30 other bikers all sitting together after having a few couple drinks, all the better

If I'm not mistaken, Danny MacAskill actually did the stunt riding in this movie.

I went and watched the movie. Premium Rush, this afternoon. I am glad I went ahead and seen it now instead of waiting on the DVD to come out. If you like lots of action and bikes you will like this movie. The only thing I did not care for was the story is told in reverse. I do not like for movies to do that. The opening scene actually happens near the end of the story. Then they show you this clock that is running backwards and then they tell most of the story in reverse.
