Bike Wanted

Not sure exactly where this would go, but I"m looking for a pretty specific bike. I live in New York City so mostly i'm on the road with other cars. Usually this means i'm in tight spaces, especially downtown.
I don't really like drop handle bars, and i don't like fixies either lol. Does anyone know of a cheap non-fixie flat-bar that has a road or track bike frame feel?
sorry for being so specific lol. thanks guys

I know how tight living quarters can be in the city, and I don't know if you've considered a mini-velo like the Mercier Nano, but if you've got space for a full-size bike, swing down to the SOHO REI and grab a Buzz for $500:

Dunno what your budget is, but the Origin-8 Cutler 7 may be of interest if funds are scarce. Or if not opposed to SS, check out the Trek Earl.

You could look around for a nice, old steel road bike with a lugged frame and relaxed forks, throw a flat bar on it, and you're ready to pedal for $200 or less. An old steel hardtail can also work, just switch out the knobby tires, but these usually have a gear range at the lower end, so they don't go very fast on the flat. An old road bike is better IMO—even a ten or twelve speed is fine.
